Hiroko's Place, with Ray

06-12 Hiroko's Place
If you're looking for Japanese comfort food nearby, try Hiroko's Place oddly located in chic Soho. They serve you-shoku, a little known style of Japanese cuisine in which Western cuisine is reinterpreted Japanese style. The cafe is like someone's living room complete with couches and a handful of cafe tables. Today with Ray we tried every Japanese kid's favorite meal, omuraisu. If you can believe it, omuraisu is basically fried rice flavored with ketchup (yes ketchup) and wrapped within a thin omelet shell.

I've been looking for a good Japanese place like this in the neighborhood... and they have omuraisu!? I know what we're having for lunch tomorrow...

Is this one of the days when you're "working" from home because Shawn may have said the same thing earlier on flickr haha.

Oh.. the communication gap in our studio!

So we took the walk today and satisfied our omuraisu appetite. Cool comics, tasty food, but with all that salty ketchup, it'll have to be a once awhile type of place. Wonder how that syphoned coffee is... next time.
