Cafe el Portal

05-01 El Portal05-01 Cafe el Portal
Cafe el Portal is a fav of ours - for the neighborhood ambiance, the mexican mama cooking right in front of your eyes, and of course for the food. They've changed the huevos lunch options by reducing portion size and adding a cup of soup. The chicken soup rivals that of the Stage! It's different from standard chicken soups in that it was chock full of vegetables, rice and mint - all in all, truly delectable.

Have you ever tried Mamlouk in the East Village? Although not Mexican, it's amazing.

We haven't tried Mamlouk before, it's a bit outside of our 15 min. walking radius but we'll put it on the list for future reference. Thx for the suggestion!
