Cafe el Portal

07-30 Cafe el Portal
It's strange that tamales are not the first thing that comes to mind when Americans think of Mexican food but they are a most ubiquitous dish in Mexico. Cafe el Portal's Mexican mama serves them with either chicken or pork, and a small dollop of rice. As with everything at Cafe el Portal, the lovingly homemade nature of all the dishes shines through. It may not be haute cuisine but you know they were made with comfort in mind.
