Subway

09-16 Subway
Ever have a brand-specific craving? Like wanting a bibb salad, but in particular the one from Ed's, or needing ramen but only in the way that Menkui-tei makes it or craving a roast pork sandwich but specifically the from Once Upon a Tart. Being in the mood for an Italian sub from Subway does not mean you are looking for a deliciously concocted Italian hero but more that you want the characteristically constructed and rather artificial taste of an Italian BMT, made only in the way that a minimium wage employee can slap dash together.

For the first time in a long time, my lunch was exponentially better, even though your photography makes even a Subway sandwich look downright appetizing.

For our lunch, we went to Shilla, one of the handful of Korean restaurants we are blessed to have here in Montgomery since Hyundai built a huge plant here. We each had bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. Most enjoyable of all were the small plates of marinated veggies (I call it Korean Tapas) that come with the meal.

As for brand-specific cravings, I can understand where you are coming from. I never crave donuts, but when I drive by a Dunkin Donuts, I always begin thinking of the chocolate cream filled from DD that I enjoyed in my youth. It takes some effort not to go in and buy 1/2 dozen.

I love the last line of this post: "...you want the characteristically constructed and rather artificial taste of an Italian BMT, made only in the way that a minimium wage employee can slap dash together."
