The long line behind me made me too flustered to think properly when the lemon bichon I wanted at Dominique Ansel was not available so the letters DKA blurted out before I could retract the $5.75 dessert order. I fretted on the way back, feeling a bit silly for spending so much on one dessert. Kim walked by my desk at precisely the right moment (coincidence? Two days in a row? I think not!). The ladies each had a little taste and they unequivocally agreed, it was worth every penny. True that. Salty and sweet, with a lightly crunchy, sugary top and a densely yielding pastry, I won't be having one every day but I don't think I will be fretting about money ill spent next time either.
