In brief: Generous dining room, warm and cozy with energy, Almond is the kind of place you want to go with your mom when she's in town. 05-08 Almond
Tasting Table just put out a list of good places to get steak frites, putting me deeply in the mood. M. was out this morning so I went out for a bar lunch at Almond where I had absolutely the nicest experience. The bartender was spot on with his attentiveness, meaning not too much and not too little. Afterward, when I had ordered the $24 prix fixe but not the glass of wine to go with, he charged me a little less, all the time refilling my ginger ale and not charging me for that either. It was a small, but very much appreciated, gesture that makes me understand why the dining room was so bustling filled with diners on this cold rainy day. Almond is a little pricier than our everyday lunch, but definitely a place I'd want to return too.
