Essigbrätlein

Weinmarkt 3, Nuremberg Germany

Rating: 1 - Wonderful
Visit #: 1
In brief: A tour de force of how powerful vegetables can be in a series of dishes forming the dinner tasting menu at Essigbrätlein. 12-17 Essigbratlein Turnip
12-17 Essigbratlein Sturgeon
It's not lunch, I realize, but our postings these couple of weeks have been so irregular I figure you might enjoy seeing what was on the tasting menu for dinner last night at little known Essigbrätlein in Nuremberg. Not to mention, a girl can only eat so much salami and sausage before wanting something for contrast. The chef has made a name for himself in the exploration of all the parts and bits of vegetables and it shows in the trio of amuse-buches that came out, in the absolutely marvelous green beans or the crispy kale with sturgeon. Attentive service, a small dining room and white wine pairings to match, I was throughly impressed.
