Saturday night I got home from vacation to a warm and lit apartment in downtown Manhattan. Not so lucky for many others, and though my apartment was without power for the week, the most damage we suffered was a refrigerator's worth of bad food. As much as it pained me to throw away 2 trash bags of spoiled goods, I cannot begin to imagine the heartache restaurant owners are experiencing now in the aftermath of Sandy.
The office was chilly this morning, still trying to heat up after a week without life, so I ran out to the closest place serving noodle soup, New Bo Ky, and devoured a piping hot bowl of roast duck noodle soup. The upcoming weeks would be a good time to practice leaving the office for lunch, think of it as supporting local business owners.
