When Allie over at Haven's Kitchen invited us to a luncheon with fellow bloggers and food lovers, we could not refuse. The pretty 3-story carriage house contains a retail shop, small cafe, working kitchen and two floors devoted to events, both intimate and large gatherings. Chef Dave walked us through a demonstration of the lunch menu, explaining as he diced and stirred, much of Haven's mission related to sustainability, making cooks not chefs and really being a space to enjoy food and its making. And I think they're succeeding. Everything is thoughtfully executed and presented, and often with a joke, some guffaws and a lot of warmth. M. is contemplating trying one of the classes, though mostly I want to take the fried chicken class.
