Shake Shack, with Hong

Madison Square Park, NY, NY 10010

Rating: 9 - Happiness
Visit #: 4
In Brief: The Shake Shack burger is as good as people claim, but we wait for rainy days and cold weather instead of braving any hour long lines. Do not overlook the shroom burger.
01-14 Shake Shack
You knew Shake Shack would eventually show up here right? How could we work so nearby and not try to brave the line at least once. Fortunately for the hard core and less hard core, there is the Shake Shack cam or even better, the Shake Shack app. I checked, saw a line no longer than the sandy eating area and practically ran out the door. Still it took Hong and I thirty minutes from when we left the office until we brought back still hot french fries and still satisfying Shack burgers.

Welcome to the Flatiron 'hood! Your early reports are pretty cliched, though: Shake Shack, Eataly, *Mangia*? Really? Why not try some lesser-known gems. Here are some suggestions, from a seasoned local: Jhony's on 25th bet. 6th/7th, Homes Kitchen on 21st bet. B'way and Park for better-than-average Chinese; Great Burrito at 23rd/6th (for Mexican, NOT pizza!), Regional Thai at 21st/7th. And the 2 Bros. Pizza on 6th Ave, at 17th and at 25th, are worth a write-up for their cheap and decent slices. (The 25th St 2Bros has more topping options.)
