Sullivan Street Bakery, Bomboloni

236 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10011

Rating: A - Excellent

In brief: We've had these before but never fresh, but now I can see why it's so revered.
05-21 bomboloni
Ever since the original Sullivan Street Bakery moved away from Sullivan Street in Soho, we rarely have a chance to have their goods. But today on a stretch of 9th Avenue I'm not usually on but will be for the next few months, I was happy to spot this location. I guess we were in luck with the freshness. The dough was pillowy and melt-in-your-mouth. There could be a tad less of the jam (and I ate the less jam half of the bomboloni), but nevertheless it was quite lovely. Looking forward to trying the vanilla cream and chocolate next.

I bet those are amazing fresh! Try to stop in for their pizza at lunch- the potato one is my favorite, the potato slices are all crispy on the edges yet softer in the middle...
